Description

Born in Vienna in 1360 to the famous Vienne family; his kinsman Jean was Admiral of France.
A knight of Burgundy he fought in several major campaigns in Europe before being made Chamberlain of Burgundy in 1398 by Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy.
He served two of the Dukes of Burgundy and the King of France in several prominent offices during the difficult period of the late 14th and early 15th centuries. France and Burgundy experienced periods of friendship and adversity at this time.
Vienne was with John the Fearless, then Duke of Burgundy, when he was assassinated at Montereau in 1419 which turned relations between the two states to virtual war.
Returning to Burgundy he was made the first knight inducted by Philip the Good Duke of Burgundy into the Order of the Golden Fleece.
He died in 1434 wealthy and honored.
