Product Description

By the first century BC, the Celts of continental Europe had all but ceased the use of the war chariot as a battle weapon. However, in Britain the light, fast war vehicle was still much in use. When Celt Queen Boudicca led her revolt against Roman authority in 59AD, war chariots were a large element in her battles against the Roman legions. Boudicca is said to have often directed her army from a chariot painted all red, which she personally drove across the battlefield. With the defeat of Boudicca’s Celt army in 60AD, the use of war chariots all but disappeared from Celt warfare.
