Product Description

In 60 AD Roman rule of Britain was challenged by a group of British tribes led by the Queen Boudicca of the Iceni people. According to Roman historians Boudicca was tall with red hair down to her hips and had considerable intelligence, while commanding with her harsh voice and piercing glare. Boudicca gathered an army estimated at 230,000 to confront the four legions of Imperial Governor Suetonius Paulinus. Boudicca razed several cities, Londinium among them, before Paulinus and his very outnumbered legions defeated Boudicca and her army at a location still disputed today but thought to be in the West Midlands of England. It is generally believed that Boudicca took poison after her defeat. Her body was never found.
