Sasa Narimasa became a leading member of Oda Nobunaga’s elite Black Horu unit. The two Horu units, the Black and the Red, each consisted of ten of the finest samurai warriors who had dedicated their lives to their patron Oda Nobunaga.
Narimasa fought in many of the campaigns against the Ikko-Ikki as well as at Nagashino. After Nobunaga’s death, Sasa Narimasa’s fortunes declined stemming from problems with his service to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. At the behest of his lord, Hideyoshi, Narimasa committed suicide in the garden of his estate in 1588.
