Sir Thomas Holland, Earl of Kent, was one of the ablest military commanders of The Hundred Years War. Along with his military honors, Sir Thomas was chosen as one of the founders of the prestigious “Most Noble Order of the Garter.”
As one of Edward III’s finest warriors, Sir Thomas spent many years fighting in France including the Battle of Crecy in Prince Edward’s contingent as well as the Siege of Calais. In 1353 Sir Thomas was made Baron Holland and Earl of Kent just prior to his death in 1360.
