Product Description

By the 13th Century a code emerged which was to set guidelines for knightly conduct called “the code of chivalry.” The code demanded courage, military prowess, virtue, service to God and loyalty to one’s lord or king.
In the latter period of the Middle Ages, the military service aspect of the knights’ responsibilities diminished. Weapons, strategies, and armies were changing. The use of gunpowder and the powerful longbows eventually rendered the armored knight to obsolescence. Knights in this period focused their skills on elaborate tournaments and performance of individual heroic deeds as well as specific and special services to their lord or monarch.
