Product Description

The Norwegian and Icelandic sagas are somewhat uncertain regarding the accuracy of details in the life of Viking warrior king Harald ‘Fairhair’. Confusion was created by his having 12-20 sons, and who-did-what is questionable.
The sagas do give story to his name ‘Fairhair’. While king of most of Norway, Harald proposed to a reluctant bride who declared that she would not marry until he was king of all of Norway. Harald took on the challenge and would not cut or trim his hair until the conquest was complete. At the end of ten years’ fighting and evicting his opposition from Norway, Harald’s nickname was translated to ‘Tanglehair.’
He indirectly settled Iceland with those who fled Norway during his conquest and reign. He was succeeded by his favorite son Eric Bloodaxe titled as King of Norway.
