Raymond was an old man in his fifties when he left for the Holy Land. History considers him the best
military mind among the leaders of the First Crusade as he studied Saracen tactics and devised his own
countermeasures. His instincts may have been honed by his years of campaigning against the Moors in Spain.
He founded the principality of Tripoli, now most of modern-day Lebanon. He died in 1105 in his castle outside Tripoli.
Price:$150.00

His father was a successful senator, consul, legion commander and governor of Asia and Syria.
Trajan served as a military tribune to his father during the time his father was governor of Syria. Military promotions followed till Trajan was commander of the VII Gemina legion in Spain in the 80’s. In 89 AD when emperor Domitian was engaged in suppressing the Saturninus rebellion, Trajan marched his legion to the Rhine in support of the emperor. Domitian’s subsequent favor meant further promotions and saw Trajan with a consulship in 91 AD.
Shortly after taking the throne in 96 AD Nerva made Trajan the governor of Germania Superior and proceeded to adopt him insuring imperial succession. Nerva suffered a humiliation when the Praetorian Guard in Rome rebelled. Trajan invited the mutinous leaders to his headquarters in Germania supposedly offering them awards. Instead he had them executed for their disrespect to their emperor.
The death of Nerva in 98 AD brought Trajan to the throne. Trajan was the most militarily ambitious ruler of the Roman Empire and his campaigns began with his war against Dacia, eventually defeating Rome’s nemesis King Decebalus of Dacia.
Along with Trajan’s successful military campaigns he also added greatly to the growth and commerce of the empire. Roads, bridges and aqueducts were built and upgraded. A new harbor for Rome was built along with Trajan’s Forum and Market. His popularity with the senate and people of the empire and his legions remained high during his entire 19 years of rule.
Trajan became the standard of excellence by which all future emperors would be measured.
Price:$165.00

Deiotarus of Armenia Minor, these warriors fought alongside Caesar’s forces in Egypt. While in Egypt the 22nd served under Caesar’s deputy Gnaeus Calvinus and took part in the Potus campaign.
The 22nd Deiotariana Legion passed to both Antony and was subsequently retained by Octavian.
The legion continued its service in the Middle East for the next century and a half until about 161 AD when its records cease. Perhaps due to its loss in the Parthian Wars.
Price:$135.00

In 1913 he moved to Munich Germany and in 1916 joined the
German Army where he fought in World War I. Decorated four times earning the Iron Cross 1st Class, Hitler was also wounded and was recovering from a gas attack at war’s end. In 1919 he joined the
German Workers Party which he was soon to dominate and convert to the National Socialist Workers Party, the Nazi Party.
After spending time in jail for an unsuccessful coup against the government, Hitler refined and honed his political skills becoming Chancellor in 1933. From 1935 to 1939 Hitler’s Nazi Government repeatedly challenged the Allied powers with his provocative acts such as: the re-occupation of the Rhineland, annexation of Austria and Czechoslovakia. In 1939 Hitler invaded Poland initiating
World War II.
His successes in Poland, Scandinavia and France were offset by his failure to subdue
Britain and his digression into Greece and the Balkans at the time he planned to invade Russia led to tactical and strategic disaster. All this taking place at the time America was entering the war against him.
From author D.L. Bongard “Undistinguished until his mid thirties, Hitler was slight and pale, with piercing eyes; his ability to arouse a crowd’s passions was remarkable, and he was a masterful political strategist, finely judging the temper and resolve of his opponents; his performance as a military strategist was uneven, especially after late 1941; his early successes made him resistant to later advice and criticism; he was more complex than the deranged demon of many popular accounts.”
Price:$135.00
